I have to admit I am as surprised as anybody to hear a big butt may actually be a healthy thing. There is evidence that this may help prevent type 2 diabetes.
To quote “New research, published in the journal Cell Metabolism, suggests the fat responsible for producing the pear shape flaunted by celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce may be active in protecting women from diseases by releasing certain hormones.”
researchers from the Harvard Medical School found Buttock and hip fat may protect women against type 2 diabetes, from which more than 1.7 million Australians now suffer. This is obviously going to be good news for many women however —
Researcher Dr Ronald Kahn insists that not all fat is bad for health.
“The surprising thing was that it wasn’t where the fat was located, it was the kind of fat that was the most important variable” he said.
“Even more surprising, it wasn’t that abdominal fat was exerting negative effects but that subcutaneous fat was producing a good effect.”
“I think it’s an important result because not only does it say that not all fat is bad, but I think it points to a special aspect of fat where we need to do more research.”
Don’t get carried away when reading this, however, and feel you can be overweight and not suffer any health effects. Being overweight can lead to diabetes, high blood pressure, and much more. So stay on the healthy side and try to maintain a healthy weight.
But it looks like you can possibly put aside worrying about having a huge butt.

People who snore burn more calories when they’re resting during the day than people who sleep quietly through the night, new research shows.
However, the calorie expenditure doesn’t seem to be enough to balance the extra weight that often accompanies the condition, also known as sleep apnea.
“There are a lot of other factors that are going on that lead to a net increase in body weight,” said Dr. Michael Thorpy, director of the Sleep Center atMontefiore Medical Center in New York City. “It’s not enough to counteract the weight gain from other sources.”
The study, published in the December issue of the Archives of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, may give insight into the basic biological underpinnings of such disorders.

Here is my take on that. People know they need to exercise and they need to maintain a healthy weight. But it’s natural that people are always looking for an easy way out. How many people do you think might read this and just take out the section where it says “people who snore burn more calories” and use that as an excuse to sleep more?
Sound ludicrous? Well, aren’t people looking for ways to sit and watch t.v. and lose weight? Buying pills that say “Exercise in a Bottle”?
I’m sure most people are not going to go to this extreme about this snoring news, but I’m betting there are a few out there who will.

I had to put this in here. This is amazing. You can get the full news here Face Transplant
Transplants are an amazing thing. Many people have no idea what is going on in this area. In fact, Let me tell you something from experience.
My wife had a kidney transplant back in December of 2005. Now most people are familiar with kidney transplants. But . . . . .
In March of this year she had a pancreas transplant at the Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus. What?! What that means is she was a brittle diabetic since the age of 13. She is now 58 and the diabetes has taken a toll on her. The pancreas transplant actually made it so she is no longer a diabetic.
I didn’t even know this was possible and, as it turns out, not only are many other people unfamiliar with this, many doctors don’t even know this is possible.
When you have a transplant your body’s defense mechanism wants to reject it as it views it as a danger. So you do take anti-rejection medications for the rest of your life. Well, let me tell you, my wife is fine with that as it beats the alternative, which was kidney dialysis, which she was on for a year and a half, and it stops any further health conditions the diabetes was causing.
Now I see this face transplant and it just blows my mind. Technology is a great thing, sin’g it?
